A Gripping Headline and Relevant Content
What is the first thing you want users to read when they land on your home page? A user spends approximately eight seconds on a website before deciding whether or not they want to leave. An interesting and relevant headline/introduction is crucial to catching a user’s attention, so make a clear introduction of your business right off the bat. Once you have established a headline and introduction, keep the rest of your homepage content as easy-to-read as possible. The information should be short and light to keep a user engaged.

User-Friendly Navigation

When selecting a navigation, look at your website as if you were a user landing on your homepage for the first time. The navigation must be easy to use for a first-time visitor. The idea is to get the user to the information they are looking for as quickly and easily as possible. The navigation should be straight forward and make the user’s experience on your website enjoyable and stress-free. Think about adding a secondary navigation, either through the content of the website or in the footer. Having multiple ways to navigate your website will help users find what they are looking for faster.

Contact Information
The next feature may be obvious but having your business contact information in an easy to find location of your homepage is critical. Though most commonly found in the footer, think about including your phone number or email in the header of your website, depending on how you would like to be contacted. Be sure to also include your business address and social media links – this goes for all pages of your website. Customers are looking for businesses that are easy to work with and having this information readily available to them is the first step in creating a credible business.

Video
A video is a great way to introduce your business to new clients. An introductory video is a  quick way to establish the services your company offers and intrigue new users to find out more about your business. It is the easiest resource to introduce yourself in an engaging way.

Call to Actions
Keep in mind that you are trying to drive users to important pages of your website through the homepage. ‘Call to Action’ buttons are a great way to do this. You can direct traffic to product pages or any other pages that are important to your business. Call to Actions can also direct users to call your company for more information or request a quote through email. This is such an important part of a website because it helps direct new and existing customers to the areas of your website you want them to look at and guides them to the actions you want them to take.

Testimonials
Finally, including testimonials is a great way to establish credibility with potential clients. It builds trust and reinforces the fact that you are qualified and equipped to do the job. It is proven that nearly 80% of users trust reviews they read online. Think about all the reviews you have read and how valuable those were in your decision-making process. Showing new customers the great things that existing clients have said about your company reinforces your business in a big way.
